Yarn, babies and dirt

Yesterday I drove out to Paige, Texas for the opening of my new LYS Yarnorama I’m thrilled to have a yarn store/café open out this way, seriously thrilled. Even more excited to be able to meet up with some other knitters near my new hometown. I believe the shops owner and a handful of the other women I spotted there have fiber animals and are spinners and weavers. I guess I’ll be spinning earlier than I thought. They were hard at work getting the café in working order too. I bought this beautiful Malabrigo there. I also picked up a skein of Cascade that reminds me of a Guinea hen. Although the boxes were still being inventoried and put on shelves yesterday, I could see by the yarns that were already displayed that the shop will be carrying beautiful luxury yarns. . . further illustrating the shops claim to be a playground for the fiber obsessed!

I am so happy with the way this super simple and quick patchwork comforter came out. I stitched it up in no tome yesterday. I had every intention of creating a proper baby quilt with handmade binding and all, but time simply got away from me. I got the idea to go simple from Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson of Purl Soho.

I also knit up this cutest ever cotton bib with some Peaches and Cream
that looks like Neoplotan ice cream. I think the striping was plum
luck, this yarn doesn’t always do that so well….hence why I knit all
my dishcloths with solid colors. Pattern Baby Bib o’ Love from Mason Dixon Knitting

Today is the day….I must drive to Austin for a baby shower (hence the two completed objects above). I have a hunch that by the time I return DH will be close to completion of my veggie garden. I am so excited I could just spit.

It’s amazing to me how much shit some women get done… I mean really.

I just received my Emmeline Apron Pattern in the mail. I was so hoping to see a picture of the back, but no dice, damn. I will still be stitching one up soon….maybe with some Ginger Blossom

Brought to you by the Letters M,S,& W

This past weekend I removed all CDs from their Jewel cases and inserted into 3 huge binders. I discovered we love artists or bands that begin with these 3 letters ALOT.  So neat and tidy, been meaning to do this for a thousand years. Which leads me to the huge list of other things I keep meaning to do or have only started…

  • visit sisters
  • finish painting kitchen cabinets
  • plant the 3 freaking Turk’s Cap that are still in plastic pots
  • paint last two walls of trim in Living Room
  • file file file all the important papers and toss the rest in the fire
  • finish quilted pot holder
  • organize closet
  • family cookbook, okay now I am going on three years here…
  • train Maisy on Gentle Leader
  • Take pics of stash for Ravelry (they may be FOs by then)
  • Update Husbands website
  • Design my website, oh and logo
  • learn to crochet
  • Start end-of year tax organization for husbands business BEFORE the end-of year
  • make a big batch of granola
  • Christmas gift knitting
  • Watch the netflix disks that are on top of TV
  • Vacum cobwebs that are  way up high in kitchen
  • I’m sure there’s more, it’s just all I will cop to right now.
