Green Grass & Fried Pies

Potluckevite2Big weekend plans. DH and I thought we’d have a little get-together at our home before we make holes in walls, remove the casino royale carpet, and raise the foundation. We spent the weekend doing chores to get the house, well, a little more presentable. We were outside most of yesterday and it was hot as shit, so I got a little cranky. Our fences are smothered with honeysuckle, jasmine and virgina creeper and the front flower beds are awesome. April’s a good time to have a party in Texas before the grass is toasted and blooms spent. I’ve ordered a mess of fried pies and plan on plenty of rootbeer and big red floats (this is a new one to me). Just finishing the baby bolero form “One Skein”. I knit it with Blue Sky dyed organically grown cotton in Lotus….a very hot pink. Keeping an eye peeled for a special skein of yarn for my Secret Pal.

New_lamp_1Have a serious old lamp jones these days. I bought this chartreuse beauty a few weeks ago and a turquoise & gold one yesdterday. Great antique shopping out in my new small town.

Finally, the end is in sight for the lace stole. I hope to bind off tonight. We’ll see how soon I actually weave in and block.

Secret Garden

Twigdance_questionI have no idea what I planted. After moving into our new home in November I hastily tossed out some wildflower seeds, but can’t for the life of me rememember what I planted (or how to spell remember). My peach trees have begun to blossom and these mystery seedlings are sprouting up where I sprinkled them.
I’ve been working on my lace stole, but have been distracted by a couple washcloths and “Lopi Lace Scarf” from Weekend Knitting. I’m knitting it with Cascade Pastaza…50% Llama / 50% Wool. I’m considering getting some chickens, but I’m afraid of birds. I am seriously considering a worm composter since my dog Callie will most likely view a traditional compost heap as a buffet.
