Well, it’s official, she has a name. She got a relatively clean bill o’ health from the vet (exept for the expected parasite population), and I’ve convinced DH to give her a try in our home. Our dogs are getting along with her so well, even feeding time is calm..whew! She does keep climbing out to sleep under the jasmine under the guest room window, even though I’ve explained that there is even MORE jasmine and honeysuckle out back. I dosed her with a little Rescue Remedy to try to make her feel more at ease. She slept inside last night, probably the coolest night she’d spent in God knows how long. Tonight, a bath now that her fleas are killed dead.
I was home at lunch (giving the dogs some relief from the damn heat) and I had received a package from my Secret Pal… saved it to open when I get home tonight.

F#$%@* Gladiolas
DH finally returned from surfing in Mexico, tanned, well rested and SORE. Not many have the cojones to learn to surf at 43, hats off to DH. He had fun. He was back a mere 8 hours when the pack of piranha puppies ate his only souvenir t-shirt. sucky. He's been gone and obviously didn't pick up on the fact that I've removed everything from the floor in the middle room and into the still empty guest room for safekeeping. The mangy mutts are on the mend and will be able to move on in a week or so. Not sure if we will keep the Zigster…he's a cutey, but so much time and energy to take care of new pup. Callie has finally started to mellow a bit, be a shame to mix it up now, but who knows. DH seemed a little miffed at the suggestion of finding him a home. Hmmm.
The gladiolas…. my surprise garden has revealed silvery spring green swords stabbing up and will no doubt flaunt their blooms in a couple weeks. Why fucking gladiolas? I'm not saying I don't like them, I just don't like them in my garden…who died? Not to mention these plants are so inappropriate for this climate and require an embarrassing use of water in an always drought ridden state. The neighbor said that the previous owner was cited by Joe Roller on numerous occasions for not complying with watering restrictions. He got caught when he would sneak out in the middle of the night to crank up the hose…. no wonder. I'm more about planting natives that require little water to survive. Oh, that reminds me I need to find out where to purchase rain barrels to collect rainwater around the house.
Oh hey, it's the first full day of spring! yeeha!
