Frogged

FroggedSo I began knitting a blanket with a simple eyelet pattern for Albert, but soon realized I’d counted wrong and the thing just looked shitty. The eyelet pattern is straight rows, but you can see mine…are not. This made me think…do I go forward, pay attention and hope noone notices the fuck up, I mean it’s only a few rows—or do I start over with another pattern, because I just don’t want to pay that much attention? Did I mention the showers in 2 weeks? I’ve decided on a simple stockinete with seed stitch border.
I am off to acupuncture appointment because my back hurts and I’m shuffling around the house like Fred Sanford. Had to take Bean to the vet AGAIN…no rest for the weary.

“A” is for Acorn for Albert

I’ve just finished this adorable acorn hat for young Albert, whose parents L&S are expecting him in July. I will start his blanket this weekend, and then get working on gifts for K&G’s new bay due later this summer, they just found out it’s aboy too. I was soooo hoping it would be a girl ‘cuz I want to knit a blanket in this super yummy persimmon (at least that’s what the folks at Cascade yarn call it) colored wool.*(note color #824) I guess I will have to knit a throw for my own damn self.

I’ve been worrying about what to do with my myself between baby shower and Xmas gift season. As freaking hot as it gets in Austin, I can’t stand the thought of not knitting for the summer. I believe my little Stitch n’ Bitch group will be knitting some preemie hats and baby blankets for local charities so our needles don’t get rusty.

dirt, yarn & babies

Finished_2I have finished a sweet litle sachet and hat for my friend Rachel’s new baby girl. She’s due like any minute, tick tock, tick tock. I love the bunny button.

My vegetable garden is finally under way and was smart enough not to plant the veggies I always get sick of, like zucchinni…which I’m sure is spelled wrong. There are a few words that I can NEVER spell without looking up.This is the first year I’ve actually been able to reap the rewards of my composting…I’m so very proud of my dirt.
