While I am not one to make grand resolutions every year, I am always hopeful and curious how the new year will unfold. DH designed this outdoor fireplace for a friend to build. We had a huddle around it on Christmas night… it's perfect. Yesterday I stocked up on s'more ingredient. I believe that one should have these things on had when one is in the possession of such a fine fireplace…don't you? Now I need to ready some sticks.
Today, for lunch we are having Good Fortune Soup then off to spend time with friends and have even more black eye peas, collard greens & cornbread. You honestly cannot enter a Southern home on New Years day and NOT be offered some. I need to bake up an apple crisp to bring.
Last night I whipped up one of these in yummy Cashmerino Super Chunky.
After some time with friends we'll head back home, light a fire and hopefully fire up some s'mores.
That sounds like a perfect day. š Your fireplace is great! I just bought one of the bowls so we can have some fire in our yard but snow prevented me from setting it up yet.
The food sounds amazing. I love southern cooking. LOVE it. And apple crisp is probably my all time favorite dessert. I just happen to have all the ingredients for some. Hmm…
Many wishes for a fantastic new year.

Wow–That fireplace is wonderful. Such a beautiful design! We’re having black-eyed peas, turnip greens & collard greens, baked yams & ham here for New Year’s dinner. Not making cornbread but may make some sweet potato biscuits; if not, we have some Jim’N’Nick’s cheese biscuits that are really yummy. (I’ve had “bisquits-on-the-brain” ever since your previous post š Happy New Year to you, your darling “DH” and all your fur-babies. Love, Retha
