So a couple weeks ago DH peeks over his newspaper and says, "that’s long enough, time to turn the heel . . . those are for me, right?" First of all, where the HELL did he ever learn the phrase "turn the heel"? Really? Also, I was knitting with Socks That Rock in Lagoon and he never passes a chance to let me know how he doesn’t like multi-color yarn… as if every knitted article is for him. Still, it was hard to resist him wanting some hand-knit socks. Just receives some Socks That Rock in Rolling Stone, not a chance in hell he’d go for those colors…next pair’s for me! I am now digging the sock thing.

I am so close to finishing the Dreaded Kitchen Cabinet Project  and we are finally finished with the middle room remodel and the furniture is on it’s way! Well, at least some of it…still shopping to do. Love the seafoamy color, will be perfect with the aqua (Behr Winter Surf) accent wall. We did something very strange and put down a plywood floor. You need to see it to believe it. I will post pics this week, it’s awesome.

I have been so freakin’ busy that I’ve had little time to work on my Ravelry notebook. Not a weekend has gone by this summer when I didn’t have either a paintbrush or caulk in my hands. I’m happy to be knitting a small project or it would seem daunting on top of all the other unfinished home projects.

Have y’all been watching Flight of the Conchords ?

Another post leading with “You know you’re living in the country when…”

Dsc07354I was at our large and small vet hospital this morning for Roscoe’s annual visit and I noticed that the drywall had been patched in the examination room. I asked if they’d been punching walls, but apparently a bull had somehow got loose, came in the building, down the hall, knocked down a door and proceeded to destroy the wall. This was last Tuesday, glad it was this Tuesday.

Is this not the sweetest photo of my little man? He looks so wise here but I’m sure he was napping.

My Calpotis is coming along nicely. While I am loving the Silk Garden, I must say I would not recommend it for a drop stitch pattern as the mohair catches quite a bit….making me force some fibers to separate. Other than that, it knits up like a dream. It’s been suggested that I freeze the yarn, hmm.

but not so much with peaches. My peaches are oozy and hard as rocks. I will have to do some reading about fruit trees and prepare for next years harvest. This morning I was out back knitting, drinking coffee and enjoying some toast with plum jam that my neighbor made from plums from MY TREE! It is a bit more fluorescent and jelly-like than I normally like…but I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. What’s on the needles beside the plate? Clapotis being knit up in Noro Silk Garden, color way 203. You can see I have a thing for greens and blues. After many fits and starts I think I am well on my way to knitting this up. I was tying to watch some TV and start this and it requires just enough attention to make that difficult. I am now in the straight section…aaah. I know this pattern is not a tough one, just hard for those of us with attention problems. I’m knitting it scarf size ‘cuz While I love the Silk Garden I am more a fan of the smaller the better with variegated yarns.

Woohoo, my first skein of Socks that Rock™ medium weight in Lagoon. This yarn is so sproingy to the touch…can’t wait to knit up a pair. Now the search for a pattern Gauge: 8 sts per inch on US size 2. … anyone have any pattern ideas? I think Dsc07687_2
this will be the chance to use the vintage DPNs I  received for Christmas, they are all so skinny.

Dsc07693_2Below is where I get my knit on every morning with my first cup of coffee, mosquitoes permitting. There is something so meditative about the quiet, my dogs (picture of my lovely Maisy below), the roving pack of chickens in the front yard, a rooster or two cockle-doodle-dooing and the clickety click of my little sticks. Helluva way to start the day.

Oh tonight on PBS there is a show that’s bound to be cool Craft in America . Have my DVR scheduled to record just in case I have memory loss. Tune in if you’re inclined… if you’re bothering to read this you probably are.Maisy_2
