It is so freakin’ beautiful today! and yes, this is today’s weather.
It’s been so long since I posted and all I have to post is this…obviously it’s far too beautiful out to be online.

DH and I have been laboring over our hardwoods for the past two weekends. Our new neighbor Julia is an 88-year old widow who lives alone (and still drives…scary). Sunday around 10 she hollered for us to come by at noon for lunch. Of course we cleaned up to the best of our ability and expected sandwiches, which would have been wholly appreciated. What we saw when we sat down was fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn pudding, buttermilk biscuits and chocolate pie! talk about comfort food…it’s surprising we were able to get any work done afterward.

BTW, the floors are finished and we’re moving shit in. We plan to be living there by next Saturday…Yay! Just so you know, never refinish your own hardwoods…I’ve never worked so freakin’ hard. DH finished them up with a clear poly sealer and they are as beautiful as 55-year old floors can be. I’ve posted some before pics, will post after this weekend.

ome sweet home. After far too many years of renting some decidedly cute houses, we are finally buying a home of our own out in the small Texas town of Elgin (population 8,007), just 19 miles out of Austin. The pics are on the left…keep in mind these photos are from when the house went on the market in February… the fruit trees are leafy and bright at this time. The house was originally built in the late 40’s with a couple additions during its life. The front half of the house has all hardwood floors, an era-appropriate pink bathroom and glass doorknobs on all the doors. The more modern kitchen is bright, sunny and HUGE and faces an open field, the house is on about 1.25 acres and is just 3 blocks from Elgin’s Main Street.
