Brought to you by the Letters M,S,& W

This past weekend I removed all CDs from their Jewel cases and inserted into 3 huge binders. I discovered we love artists or bands that begin with these 3 letters ALOT.  So neat and tidy, been meaning to do this for a thousand years. Which leads me to the huge list of other things I keep meaning to do or have only started…

  • visit sisters
  • finish painting kitchen cabinets
  • plant the 3 freaking Turk’s Cap that are still in plastic pots
  • paint last two walls of trim in Living Room
  • file file file all the important papers and toss the rest in the fire
  • finish quilted pot holder
  • organize closet
  • family cookbook, okay now I am going on three years here…
  • train Maisy on Gentle Leader
  • Take pics of stash for Ravelry (they may be FOs by then)
  • Update Husbands website
  • Design my website, oh and logo
  • learn to crochet
  • Start end-of year tax organization for husbands business BEFORE the end-of year
  • make a big batch of granola
  • Christmas gift knitting
  • Watch the netflix disks that are on top of TV
  • Vacum cobwebs that are  way up high in kitchen
  • I’m sure there’s more, it’s just all I will cop to right now.

You Want me to Hold the Chicken, Huh?

After being in the restaurant business for a huge chunk of my life I always love a movie with a waitress. Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, 5 Easy Pieces (ah, I mean Tammy
Wynette, Chopin, Bach and Mozart all in one soundtrack..genius) and
what about Karen Black’s Eyes, Spitfire Grill (one of my new faves). Of course, the queen of ’em all, Mildred Pierce. I once worked with a man who wanted to open a restaurant named after the character. I always imagined it to have drag queens with shoulder pads and deep red lips taking your order while looking at you in great disdain. hmmm.

I’m on a roll with "Steve’s Bubbly Yet Still Manly Curtain". I’m resisting the urge to go down a needle size, I think it should actually shrink up a bit since it’s a linen/cotton blend. This would be a good thing, I could always just roll the sides a bit and baste stitch.

I am trying to get over my serious project monogamy and now have a project at home and the office. Still feels weird, but no more schlepping extra bags to work. I swear it’s like I move in every morning and move out at night.

Dog Days “Scout, a friend”

Dsc07511

"when the seas boiled, wine turned sour, dogs grew mad, and all creatures became languid, causing to man burning fevers, hysterics, and phrensies" – Brady’s Clavis Calendarium, 1813. Well, that’s what Wikipedia says.

This is picture of my friend and neighbor’s pup Scout, a cute little Boston terrier who loves to come play. He’s very keen on Maisy.

Last night I left work late (again), hopped into the supermarket for yet another half-assed grocery trip, and brought work home (again). But this time I saw the looks on my dog’s faces, put the milk in the fridge, grabbed the leashes and took them for a beautiful golden twilight jaunt. We live just around the corner from the historic district so there’s always alot to see on our walks. Things I saw:

  • the late day light is changing to that warmer autumn tone
  • the water tower is almost all painted.. white with Beware, Wildcat Country! (in purple)
  • there’s an art show at Kingfisher Gallery
  • lots of people are at City Cafe for the Wednesday night Home style buffet… Pot Roast & Fried Chicken. Love their lemon meringue pie.
  • Maisy is getting much better on her leash.
  • I needed this as much as my 3 dogs
  • Work can and will wait

So today I donned my favorite white eyelet skirt, a sage blouse and my favorite flip-flops to wear to work. Yep, you heard right, flip-flops to the office.

Today I need to get a package together for a new friend (S—it may be mañana, send a birthday card to my mother ( I just started her gift, of course).

I have started knitting Wisp in Rowan Kid Silk Haze color—Trance, a beautiful teal. The last time I knit with this yarn…I wasn’t in love with it. But I am soooo digging it this time, wonder if I chose a better needle for the mohair. Think I may need to knit some of these as gifts, it is so luxurious and so delicate. Yummy.

I also need to decide on a scarf for my downstream pal  for the Ravelry Scarf Exchange. She ‘s not a fan of Mohair, so Wisp is out… maybe Steam?

Am also quickly knitting the Bubbly Curtain from Mason Dixon for the husbands bathroom and the hinky little window on the front door.

Am also thinking of setting up an Etsy shop to peddle my invites, announcements and stationary.
