Viva Las Vegas

BabykellyThis is my little sister Kelly…
she and her man are on the road from Santa Monica to Vegas to get hitched. The nuptials will be performed by the King tomorrow evening. Her first wedding was like a fairy tale replete with all the stress. It was beautiful, but a lot of work for her.  I guess she was looking to just enjoy the moment this time. Good for them. While the couple decided to have a private ceremony…I will be able to check it out via web cast….sign of the times or what?

I spent the better part of last week painting my kitchen cabinets. No I am not done, man did I bite off more than I can chew. I know I’ll be so so happy when they’re done but now I know why everyone grimaced when I told them what I was doing.

I did however finish my Clapotis, a surf inspired baby quilt and begin some socks (or one sock to be exact).

Another post leading with “You know you’re living in the country when…”

Dsc07354I was at our large and small vet hospital this morning for Roscoe’s annual visit and I noticed that the drywall had been patched in the examination room. I asked if they’d been punching walls, but apparently a bull had somehow got loose, came in the building, down the hall, knocked down a door and proceeded to destroy the wall. This was last Tuesday, glad it was this Tuesday.

Is this not the sweetest photo of my little man? He looks so wise here but I’m sure he was napping.

My Calpotis is coming along nicely. While I am loving the Silk Garden, I must say I would not recommend it for a drop stitch pattern as the mohair catches quite a bit….making me force some fibers to separate. Other than that, it knits up like a dream. It’s been suggested that I freeze the yarn, hmm.

Fall Down Go Boom

I am too terribly excited about ordering two of these pendant lights for my kitchen to be bothered by the hellish heat. Our less than 2-year-old system is freaking out on us. The AC guy we found is nice enough and brings his own beer too. Honestly, we were lucky to find someone on such short notice who has been truly diligent in figuring it out. Luckily all parts are new enough to be under warranty. Good thing since we can’t get the guy who installed it to call us back after a gazillion calls. I swear it’s the last of "friend of a friend" hires for this household. Live and learn.

Oh, I was walking my dogs Friday morning and tripped over Maisy. I made total body contact with the asphalt. Didn’t break anything (went to the doctor) but motor skills were very hindered….still are a bit. Sometimes I catch myself holding my arm like Bob Dole. I could kick myself since I had already bout a Gentle Leader to correct the very behavior that caused the fall but decided to wait to try it on her. Not that it was ever easy to fall on asphalt, but at 42… OY.
